Old News

July 8, 2001 - Jason is currently working on petitioning into USAG National Championships. After having 2 sugery's on his knee since January, Jason is back and ready to go. He stayed out of the Gym Jam, just so he could protect his knee and give it a rest!

July 17, 2001 - Jasons petition to nationals was accepted!!!

July 29th, 2001 - As many of you have noticed Jason's site is down, as well as his message board. His webmaster is aware of that and the site will be returning soon! Also, there is a Jason Fan Package, they are looking for help in getting entries! It is being orginized by Jeannie at Jason Sensation Yahoo Club. Quoted by Jeannie:
Ok, I've decided I'm gonna do this fan package. I'd like to get as many contributions from you guys as possible. I think it would be great to send something to Jason from this club to encourage him before Nationals. I haven't decided on a deadline for getting things to me but we do have some time.

I'd like to do a fan book (similar to the Blaine Book if any of you know about that) however, if you'd like to send something else to Jason, you can include that too. You can send letters, poetry, drawings whatever your hearts desire. Have fun with it and be creative! Just be sure it's tasteful (I'm sure we won't have a problem with that cause you're all great fans but I just figured I'd throw that in there for good measure.)

If you'd like to make contributions or have any questions/comments/suggestions, you can e-mail me at gatsonfan625@yahoo.com. Please help me make this something special for Jason.

~Jeannie

PLEASE HELP OUT EVERYONE!!!

August 4th, 2001 - First off, news about Jason's website, Jeff is still unable to access his computer, the site is still down. Fan Book will be sent soon. For Nationals News, the guys leave tomorrow to head out to Philly. Jason will be starting off his Nationals on High Bar Where he will perform 3rd. Good Luck Jason!

August 9th, 2001 - Last night Jason was in 12th Place Heading into finals! Finals are tomomrrow night, GOOD LUCK!

August 10th, 2001 - Jasons night started off great! (sound familer) well, things were going really good until Jason hit vault. After what seemed to be a good Kasamatu vault, Jason fell over grabbing his knee. He was then helped off the podium by a trainer and his coach. IG's live update at 8:37 PM said: Gatson is standing on his own and debating on whether to return to the competition, but has not rejoined his group. IG has reported that Jason has withdrawn from competition with a very early diagnosis of a sprained knee.

August 22nd, 2001 - Sorry about the delay in the news department. Jason didn't qualify to the World Team. He has headed back to colorado to have an MRI done on his knee. He is convinced it's just a sprain although his coaches think it might be the ACL again. Support Jason in any way you can, send him letters and stuff. Latest I've heard from "sources" is that the day after the competition Jason was up and walking and had a postitive attitude about the knee!

September 3rd, 2001 - it has been announced that Jason's knee injury was a torn ACL. The recovery time is about 9 months and at this point, the sugery hasn't been schedule.

September 15th, 2001 - In a recent interview with IG, Vitaly Marinich stated that he is confident in Jasons comeback. The knee injruy was the ACL, although not as serious as it was in 1999, the knee was 5% short of total disclation, according to Jasons other coach, Ron Brant. At this point, they aren't going to rush and have to be ready, so they are setting their comeback for 2003!

October 24th, 2001 - In the back of IG for this month there is a short article about Jason and a quick quote from Jasons father about his current condition!
